Geraldton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group
Volunteers Serving the Community Since 1988
The Geraldton Marine Rescue Group was first formed in 1988 as part of the Geraldton / Greenough State Emergency Services.
Monthly Meetings and Coastal radio watch monitoring was conducted from S.E.S. offices in Chapman Rd.
In 1991 the S.E.S. moved to the "Bill Sewell Centre" in a revamped bunker formerly the Geraldton / Greenough Prison cells.
The location was not ideal due to limited radio transmissions and lack of local visibility.
A proposal to build a radio shack on top of the Point Moore toilets was put forward in 1991.
Our current location at Point Moore, across the road from the lighthouse, was opened in March 1994.
The facilities were upgraded in 2001.
